Web 1.0 is a blog style lifestyle...
HTML was invented in 1989 by Tim Berners-Lee. There have been many new programs of HTML over the years.. many new languages of code exist.. but this right here is the original!

HTML is the basis of our World Wide Web. While its updated throughout the years and there are many different languages now used, she is the seed that grew what we now know. I have learnt the very most basic basics of her to create a Web 1.0 style site of my very own! I have filled my corner with gifs that represent the things I love.
Gifs are the internet's greatest example of kitsch. Corny, massively shared, low quality, garish and headache inducing, and now often used to convey irony or humor.
I have always loved kitsch things. I am a very sentimental person, constantly tethering myself to my memories. Chained to my seven-year-old selfs hello kitty coloring book and pink sparkly childrens bible.
The commodification of religious figures, specifically Mother Mary, has always had a grip on me. My bedroom walls are covered in the various overproduced cards and posters Ive found and been gifted during my life. And I know these have caused quite a stir in the grand scheme of history outside of myself. Who else remembers the Reformation hahaha. Transforming something so sacred to something commercial to be sold so someone can get a buck is quite controversial in many circles. Shoutout Martin Luther. (indulgences werent exactly iconographic, but my points made.)
I idolize it all.. I am an idolater. I idolize my memories of these sparkly, emotional, loud stickers and plastic dolls I grew up holding. As a kid I would make a fort and bring all my things inside. Me, my dolls, my lalaloopsy diary, my spongebob etch-a-sketch, my Barbie makeup kit, and my pink-purple radio. I loved my things.. And thats a reflection of how I was raised. My class, my family, my (ex?) religion influenced my taste.
This website is my fort. I can put my little sparkly things all around where I can see them. I have become a prosumer.. Making this website using gifs from another website. With neocities, anybody can make a website for free.
This website is avant-garde... Its never been done before! For my personal art journey, creating this digital world is boundary-breaking! So I choose to call her avant-garde.
